OUR MISSION

The automotive industry is ranked among the top in regards to suicide rates and untreated mental health issues. Brake the Stigma was created to put the brakes on the stigma surrounding mental health within the industry. This is accomplished by promoting awareness and support in the automotive industry by educating employers on the importance of mental well-being for employees. We envision a world where mental health is accorded the same significance as physical health, and where every individual, regardless of their background, enjoys unfettered access to the mental health care essential for their well-being. We emphasize the need for a workforce where every employer values and actively supports the mental health of their employees, fostering a healthier and more productive work environment.

Putting The Brakes on Mental Health Stigma

Brake the Stigma was founded by automotive industry professionals that have first hand experience in battling the stigma surrounding mental health. In a 2019 study conducted by BEN, 91% of employees in the automotive sector have been affected by a health and wellbeing issue. Out of all issues revealed, anxiety had the most detrimental impact. In conjunction with the high percentage of affected auto industry employees, only 1 in 4 indicated that they received support to understand or manage their mental health.

Brake the Stigma is a dedicated and passionate organization committed to raising awareness and fostering positive change in the automotive industry by prioritizing mental health and well-being. We believe that mental health is a vital component of individual and collective success, and our mission is to ensure that everyone within the automotive community has the resources and support they need to thrive.

We envision an automotive industry where mental health is valued and prioritized. Our vision is a future in which every individual involved in this dynamic field feels empowered to take care of their mental well-being and is equipped with the knowledge and tools to do so effectively. We aspire to create a culture of compassion, understanding, and resilience within the automotive industry.
